THE MAGIC FLUTE -
W. A. Mozart

Production In English - with orchestra
DIRECTOR: Dominic Best
MUSICAL DIRECTOR: Anthony Legge
The Magic Flute tells the tale of how Prince Tamino, saved from death by the three Ladies-in-Waiting of the Queen of the Night,
falls in love with a picture of the Queen's daughter Pamina, and as thanks for saving his life, sets off to rescue her from the
High Priest Sarastro who has taken her captive, helped by Papageno the bird catcher. As the action unfolds it becomes apparent
that it is the Queen of the Night who is the real villain of the piece, not Sarastro, as love, courage, virtue and wisdom triumph
over evil and jealousy.
This lively and colourful piece is one of Mozart's most loved and popular works, filled with beautiful, enchanting melodies and
memorable characters.
