EDUCATION & COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME
Clonter offers workshops and performance opportunities for 2000 children aged 8-18 each year. Last year children from 42 different schools took part. U3A students also participated in Opera Novice Nights and our annual Sing for Clonter Event.
18 January – 10 March
Tailor made performance projects enable schools all over the North West to write, design, compose, light and stage manage their own short musical theatre pieces. Initial Set & Lighting Design workshops take place in schools followed by a Performance Day at Clonter rehearsing, performing and costume designing.
MARGARET WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL PLATFORM CONCERTS
Wed 9 and Thurs 10 March
Congleton Primary schools are invited to perform and develop their performance skills in a non- competitive andsupportive environment.
Each year one Cheshire school choir is invited back to perform on the Clonter Stage at a Friend’s Musical Theatre Evening.
OPERA NOVICE NIGHT
Thurs 14 July
Young people can come and design a costume for their favourite character – at 5.00 pm and attend a pre-performance talk by the director at 6.30 pm.

Action packed days of music workshops with 5 singers and a Music Director, set design workshops with 2 designers followed by a Musical Theatre Variety show.

MUSICAL THEATRE VARIETY SHOW
Sun 18 September
5 singers present a Musical Theatre Variety show suitable for all ages with fully staged excerpts from musicals, opera and operetta.
THEATRE DESIGN PACKS
For schools wishing to run their own cross-curricular Theatre Design workshops with a Clonter Theatre Design Pack.
A total of 2975 people participated in our 2014/15 Education programme which consisted of 77 workshops and performance activities. 1144 Children took part in our September Musical Theatre Days and 559 in Performance Projects and 228 performed at our Platform concerts. Students of all ages attended our Musical Theatre Matinee Variety show and Opera Novice Night – including many U3A students and families with children.
